The Dimez on Deck Salute to African Models & Beauty

Liya Kebede
Ethiopian model Liya Kebede is one the highest paid models from Africa and is said to be one of the highest ranking in the world. Check out some of her photos below.



Ajek Deng
Born in Africa, her family fled to Australia which is where Ajek Deng's modeling career began. She is one of the youngest rising African born models and she has accomplished so much in her budding career.


Yasmin Abshir Warsame
Yasmin Warsame, born in Somalia and moved to Canada at the age of 15 with her Family. She was discovered in 1997 by a modeling agency while attending college, and has had a successful career in this industry sense then.


Betty Adewole
Betty Adewole was born in Nigeria and grew up in the United Kingdom. She has been featured in V and French Revue de Modes and has walked the runway for Issey Mikaye, and Martin Margiela among other big names.


Alek Wek
Alek Wek may not be the highest paid, or the most sought after fashion model, but she is certainly one of the more popular and one of the most recognized African models in the world. Although she was born in Southern Sudan, she was discovered in London in the mid 90's and has been featured in multiple publications and even popular music videos sense here discovery.

Genevieve Nnaji
Coming straight from Nigeria, Nnaji started her career as a model which eventually led to a successful acting and singing career. She is one of the highest paid actresses in the Nollywood (the Cinema of Nigera) film Industry.


Miriam Chemmos
Chemmoss is a quadruple threat! This Kenyan born Nubian goddess is a very talented singer, actress, model and.... great at being sexy. 4 power moves all wrapped into one.


Lola Monroe (Angel Melaku)
This beautiful Ethiopian woman has evolved from model to video vixen to actress to a skilled rapper. The sky is the limited for "Lola Luv".


Hororine Uwera
Although Ms. Uwera was born in Rwanda she relocated to Canada and later became a very successful model. She has walked the runway for Vivienne Westwood and Baby Phat just to name a few.


Flaviana Matata
Flaviana Matata was one of the top contenders for Miss Universe, need we say more?


Rhian Benson
This beautiful Ghanaian woman is singer who writes and composes all her own material, attended Harvard University, and is absolutely gorgeous. Rhian Benson has the brains and talent to match her beauty!

Another rising, beautiful African born runway model!


Iman Bowie
This list would not be complete without mentioning the G.O.A.T. Iman paved the way for black runway models listed above, and help put black beauty on the map!
